Can HIFK continue their road form?

Veikkausliiga side Honka go into the weekend off the back of a loss to KuPS, 2-1. Manager Vesa Vasara’s team is now winless in their last two league matches and need to turn things around quickly.
Honka are just four points off the top of the Veikkausliiga. With only four matches taking place over the weekend in the Finnish top-flight, Honka could inch themselves up the table and closer to Ilves.
It won’t be an easy task as HIFK arrive at the Tapiolan Urheilupuisto stadium. Like Honka, HIFK are winless in their last two matches. HIFK’s most recent fixture saw them lose 2-0 against city rival HJK.
HIFK are at bottom of the Veikkausliiga away form table. The Helsinki side has gained three points from 15 possible failing to win on the road this term. Things have got better for manager Tor Thodesen’s team, however.
The Star Chested have drawn back to back matches in the Veikkausliiga scoring just one goal and conceding one time.
Honka have tallied 10 points from 21 possible at home. Their last three home fixtures have been inconsistent as they have lost twice and won once at the Tapiolan Urheilupuisto stadium.
Vasara’s team have been good over their last six matches with HIFK. Honka have recorded three wins and two draws during that six-match span in all competitions. They have outscored the Helsinki club 9-6, but HIFK’s most recent victory against Honka came earlier this season.
HIFK won at their Telia 5G-areena in April against Honka, 2-0. The Star Chested scored twice in the second half courtesy of Joel Mattsson and Jakob Masloe Dunsby to pick up the victory.
Four of Honka’s last five home matches in the Veikkausliiga have ended in under 2.5 goals scored. Honka average 1.3 goals per match at home this term. They also concede 1.3 goals per match at the Tapiolan Urheilupuisto stadium.
HIFK average less than 0.5 goals per match on their travels. However, their recent run of back to back road draws shows improvement under Thodesen. HIFK are coming to grips with life in the Veikkausliiga and a second straight win over Honka could be on the cards.
Thodesen’s team surprised Honka in April with a 2-0 victory. Now, HIFK will once again gain three points against Honka. Saturday’s fixture should be low scoring with the Helsinki club getting the win with under 2.5 goals scored.
