They’ve already performed one set of heroics this week; the question now is whether or not Liverpool can perform another and with a place in this season’s Champions League final now secured, the Merseyside outfit will look to win a first English league title since 1990.

After such a sensational performance on Tuesday night, Jurgen Klopp and his players are already approaching something resembling immortal status, while if they do win the Premier League on Sunday and get the better of Manchester City, they will be treated as Anfield demi-gods.

A 4-0 win over Barcelona, is one that will always generate a huge swathe of headlines and what is more impressive about this incredible feat, is the fact that they achieved it without both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in attack.

This meant that Divock Origi was given the nod to start and after scoring a late winner against Newcastle last Saturday – one that subsequently meant the title race goes to the final day, it is fair to say that he took the huge opportunity that was afforded to him with both hands.

His two goals bookended the scoring on Tuesday and now manager Jurgen Klopp will be presented with something of a headache, as he now has to decide which trio of forwards will spearhead the attack come this Sunday.

While not only that, there is the small matter of trying to get the better of a Wolves side, who not only have already secured a seventh-place finish, but also the fact that they love nothing more than mixing it with the big boys.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have collected many a top six scalp and have taken points off of all the members of that elite club, that is with the exception of Liverpool and they will be looking to complete this illustrious set at Anfield.

The one thing that will play into their hands, is the fact that Liverpool’s efforts on Tuesday were nothing short of herculean and perhaps they may struggle to get going for this final encounter. However, with a league title up for grabs, that is arguably all the impetus the Merseysiders need.

All Liverpool can do, is look to complete their end of the bargain and hope that Brighton do them the biggest of favours at the AMEX. Were that to happen, then we will be treated to one of the biggest final day twists in Premier League history.

While of course, Liverpool will certainly be confident of picking up the win that they will need and especially when you consider that they are unbeaten in their last 39 home league outings – a streak that is now more than two years old, with a last Anfield defeat coming back in April 2017.

Liverpool know that ultimately their fate now lies in the hands of others and if they do win this game, but still finish second, then Jurgen Klopp will know that he and his players could not have offered anything else. They’ll go onto win this game, but will they win the league? We’ll find out on Sunday.
