    On Monday evening, Napoli and Inter Milan will battle it out for the Supercoppa Italiana silverware at Al-Awwal Park in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh.

    The Neapolitans claimed a 3-0 victory over Fiorentina in the semi-finals before the Nerazzurri defeated Lazio by the same scoreline to book their place in the final.

    Napoli are competing in the Supercoppa Italiana thanks to their Serie A triumph last season, although their title defence is not going to plan so far.

    The reigning champions have lost seven of their 20 Serie A matches this term, meaning they find themselves a whopping 20 points behind leaders Inter Milan.

    That said, Napoli head into the Supercoppa Italiana final on a two-game winning streak, with a 2-1 league victory against Salernitana preceding Thursday’s triumph over Fiorentina.

    After failing to score a single goal in four games between December 19 and January 7, the Neapolitans have netted five in two to reignite their campaign.

    As for Inter, they have won four of their previous five matches thanks to Friday’s victory over Lazio, with their last defeat coming on December 20.

    It is also worth noting that Simone Inzaghi’s men have lost just one of their last 21 matches across all competitions, punching their ticket to the Champions League knockouts in the process.

    Inter have also suffered a solitary defeat in 20 Serie A games this season, notching the best offensive record and the best defensive record in Italy’s top flight.

    Consequently, the Nerazzurri are in a strong position to win their first Serie A title since 2020-21, having finished second in 2021-22 and third last year.

    Head-to-head: When these two sides met in Serie A back in early December, Inter Milan claimed a comfortable 3-0 victory over Napoli in Naples.

    When you look at the bigger picture, Napoli have only managed to win one of their previous nine meetings with the Nerazzurri across all competitions.

    Team news: Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria, while Hamed Junior Traore and Natan are sidelined through injury.

    On the flip side, Inter Milan are currently with Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado, who has missed the past seven games due to an Achilles injury.

     

    Although Napoli clinched the Serie A title last year, Inter have been operating at a much higher level than the reigning champions this season.

    With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Inter Milan will secure the Supercoppa Italiana silverware thanks to a clean-sheet victory over Napoli.
