Inter set for customary high-scoring win over Roma

Inter Milan and AS Roma will both be looking to discover some consistency in Serie A when they face off at the San Siro on Saturday.

As we return from the international break and head into Matchday 8, seventh-place Inter and sixth-place Roma are separated by a solitary point in the table.

With first-place Napoli and second-place Atalanta sitting four points clear of Roma and five points clear of Inter, both sides will be eager to keep pace with the early frontrunners this weekend.

Believe it or not, Inter have yet to draw a single game in Serie A this season – registering four wins and three losses.

Only the top three teams have picked up Serie A more wins than Inter this term. However, only the bottom four sides have suffered more defeats.

That said, it is worth noting that Inter have won each of their last seven home games in Serie A and remain unbeaten in their previous nine at the San Siro.

Having lost just seven of their past 45 league encounters, Inter will be confident of returning to winning ways this weekend.

As for Roma, they have recorded four wins, one draw and two losses in Serie A this season – scoring eight goals while conceding seven.

Across all competitions, however, Jose Mourinho’s side have won three and lost three of their past six outings, underlining their inconsistency.

Like Inter, Roma have enjoyed plenty of success in Serie A in recent times – losing just four of their previous 24 league outings.

Still, the club from the capital have lost two of their previous three. After suffering a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Udinese, they lost 1-0 to Atalanta before the international break.

Head-to-head: Inter are unbeaten in their last 11 meetings with Roma across all competitions, having picked up five wins and six draws since their last loss.

On top of that, Inter have won each of their past four matches against Roma – scoring over 2.5 goals on three occasions.

Team news: Inter’s lengthy injury list contains Dalbert, Romelu Lukaku, Hakan Calhanoglu, Marcelo Brozovic, Gabriel Brazao and Alex Cordaz.

Roma also have a number of absentees at the moment, including Georginio Wijnaldum, Rick Karsdorp, Ebrima Darboe and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Given Inter’s impressive recent record against Roma, the hosts look set to cruise to a comfortable victory over Mourinho’s men.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Inter will once again score over 2.5 goals on their way to beating Roma.
