There’s action from the Norwegian top flight on Wednesday night as Molde play host to Stromsgodset at their Aker Stadion with the hosts looking to collect a fifth league win on the trot in the Eliteserien.
A recent four-match winning streak has helped lift Molde into 2nd place and level on points with the current league leaders, Bodo/Glimt, on 23 points apiece but all three points here on Wednesday night would see Molde get an early jump on their title rivals.
Victories against Sandefjord 3-1, Sarpsborg 4-1, Stabaek 2-1 and most impressive of all, a 2-0 win on the road away at Bodo/Glimt, will have given Molde an important boost ahead of this midweek fixture in the Elieteserien.
The bigger picture shows that Molde have suffered just the one defeat out of their last 12 matches overall, an impressive sequence of results which also includes nine wins with each of the nine victories also seeing Molde scoring 2 goals or more as well.
Onto Stromsgodset, and the visitors dropped down to 10th place on the Norwegian top flight table despite registering a comprehensive 4-0 win over Sandefjord last time out in the Eliteserien.
Results overall have been inconsistent though for Stromsgodset who have managed to pick up just two wins from their last seven games, both of which were achieved on home turf against Rosenborg and Sandefjord at their Marienlyst Stadion, but results away from home have told a very different story.
Stromsgodset have recorded just two wins out of their last 12 matches on their travels and also includes six defeats, while also losing three of their last four games on the road with losses incurred at Kristiansund, Brann and Bodo/Glimt, the latter being a particularly heavy 7-2 thrashing.
In addition, Stromsgodset have managed to keep just one clean sheet in these last 12 away games and this could spell further trouble for the visitors on Wednesday night against a free-scoring Molde outfit.
The visitors certainly look to have their work cut out ahead of this upcoming trip to face Molde as Stromsgodset have lost each of the previous six meetings on the trot against their hosts.
Although, seventh loss on the trot looks to be on the cards here with Molde perhaps winning by a 2-goal margin or higher.
