Gent Looking to go Out With a Bang and Defeat St. Truiden Once More?
1375

Gent and St. Truiden clash in the final game of the Belgian Pro League season with the home side ending up finishing top of the Conference League Play-offs, and Forebet has all the latest data, trends, analysis and mathematics for the last day.

Gent had a rare very poor season and ended up finishing seventh in the regular season. It means yet another year without Europa League football and their worst finish in the Belgian Pro League for three seasons.

The regular campaign did see them finish level on points with Genk and Cercle Brugge in the race to get into the Championship round, but an inferior head-to-head record and inferior goals difference meant a finish in seventh and just a chance to play for a spot in the Europa Conference League.

This run after 30 games in the first phase of the league season saw the Gent win only 12 games from the 30 outings.

They also managed to lose seven games, draw the other 11 and let in 38 goals. On the other hand, the 53 goals scored was only bettered by Club Brugge, Antwerp, Anderlecht and Union Saint-Gilloise, all who sit within the top four.

Over in the Conference League Play-off group, Gent ultimately made easy work of things.

They added seven more wins to the 12 they achieved in the regular season, which also meant a gap of nine on Mechelen in second and another position in the Europa Conference League for next season.

Such a run recently has seen them lose only one game from the past five, including a win over STVV. The win over this weekend's opponents saw a goal each from Stefan Tissoudali and Stefan Mitrovic.

A win over Westerlo followed this up before then beating Mechelen to secure top spot. On the other hand, Gent did lose to Oud-Heverlee Leuven 1-0 shortly after, although they managed to defeat Standard Liege last time out, as Matias Fernandez-Pardo scored a goal in either half before two late finishes from Laurent Depoitre.

STVV are aiming to hang on to third place with a gap of three points on Leuven. They finished ninth in the regular season with 10 wins, 10 draws and the same amount of losses as well.

Forebet now predicts a win for Gent and for the game to see over 2.5 goals, as the home side end their season on a high.
