Friday Night Football
Eibar put in an excellent performance to beat Granada on Friday night. Goals from Sergi Enrich, Kike and Takashi Inui sealed a well-deserved win for the home side, while Granada continue to slide down the table.
Saturday’s Round-up
Sevilla maintained the pressure on the top two with victory over Mallorca. Diego Carlos put the visitors ahead in the first half, before an Ever Benega penalty wrapped up the points for Sevilla.
Antoine Griezmann, Arturo Vidal, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez all scored as Barcelona thrashed Alaves. Pere Pons grabbed a goal back for Alaves in the second half, but Barcelona were better in every department.
Villarreal got the better of Getafe thanks to a Moi Gomez strike just after half-time. Mathias Olivera was sent off for Getafe on 61 minutes, while Villarreal recorded back-to-back league wins for the third time this season.
Following late drama at Estadio Jose Zorrilla, Valladolid and Valencia shared the points. Sergi Guardiola thought he’d won the game for hosts after netting a free kick on 83 minutes. However, Manu Vallejo scored in the final seconds to rescue a point for Valencia.
Super Sunday
Leganes picked up their third league win of the campaign by beating bottom club Espanyol. Goals from Martin Braithwaite and Youssef En-Nesyri handed Leganes the vital three points.
Real Sociedad come out on top in a seven-goal thriller against Osasuna. Mikel Oyarzabal, Portu and Martin Odegaard put the visitors 3-0 up inside half an hour, but goals either side of half time for Osasuna set up a tense finish. Alexander Isak extended Sociedad’s lead, before Ezequiel Avila completed the scoring. Facundo Roncaglia saw red on 70 minutes.
Angel Correa and Alvaro Morata both scored as Atletico Madrid saw off Real Betis. Marc Bartra scored a late consolation goal for the hosts, but Atletico held on to come away with the points.
Levante came from behind to heap more misery on Celta Vigo. Iago Aspas put Celta Vigo ahead on 12 minutes, but Roger Marti scored twice in ten second-half minutes to turn the game on its head. Borja Mayoral netted a third in added time to seal the win for Levante.
Despite registering 20 shots, Real Madrid were unable to find a goal against Athletic Bilbao. Zinedine Zidane’s side had to settle for a point after the game finished goalless.
