Saturday’s Round-Up

Atalanta heaped yet more misery on bottom-of-the-table Brescia with a convincing 3-0 win. A brace from Mario Pasalic and a late Josip Ilicic strike saw Atalanta end a run of four league games without a win.

Gleison Bremer headed home from a corner on 77 minutes to hand Torino victory over Genoa. Despite the home side dominating the possession, Torino held on to claim all three points. Simone Edera was sent off for the visitors in injury-time.

Lecce secured a much-need win against Fiorentina thanks to Andrea La Mantia capping off a fine team move early in the second half. Fiorentina registered more than three times as many shots as Lecce, but ultimately failed to take their chances.

Super Sunday

Sassuolo held Juventus to a shock draw at the Allianz Stadium. Leonardo Bonucci put the reigning champions ahead, but Jeremie Boga and Francesco Caputo turned the game around. However, a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty rescued a point for Juve.

Ciro Immobile’s remarkable goalscoring run continued as he netted a brace against Udinese in a comfortable 3-0 win for Lazio. Luis Alberto scored the Rome outfit’s other goal and helped Lazio to their sixth-straight Serie A victory.

Another in-form striker, Lautaro Martinez, scored twice as Inter overcame SPAL to move to the top of the table. Mattia Valoti pulled one back for the visitors in the second half, but Antonio Conte’s side had already done enough to claim their twelfth league win of the campaign.

Milan left it late to end a run of three games without a win. Theo Hernandez pounced on a blunder in the Parma defence to claim a deserved three points for Milan in the 88th minute.

Napoli’s troubles were added to by Bologna as Carlo Ancelotti’s side slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat. Fernando Llorente put Napoli ahead just before the break, but second-half goals from Andreas Skov Olsen and Nicola Sansone handed Bologna an unlikely victory.

Goals from Justin Kluivert, Diego Perotti and Henrikh Mkhitaryan sealed a comprehensive away victory for Roma at Verona. Davide Faraoni got on the scoresheet for the hosts, but Roma eventually ran out comfortable winners.

Monday Night Football

In the final match of Round 14, Cagliari got the better of Sampdoria in a seven-goal thriller. Fabio Quagliarella and Gaston Ramirez put Sampdoria 2-0 up, before Radja Nainggolan pulled a goal back for Cagliari. Quagliarella then got his second of the game to make it 3-1, but a quickfire brace from Joao Pedro brought the score level. Still, there was time for more drama, as Alberto Cerri scored deep into added time to seal a stunning comeback.
