Friday Night Football

Mainz recorded their third win of the season as they beat Koln 3-1. Simon Terodde gave the visitors the lead, but goals from Jean-Paul Boetius, Robin Quaison and Levin Oztunali turned the game around.

Saturday’s Round-up

Paderborn picked up their first league win of the season with goals either side of half-time against Fortuna. Abdelhamid Sabiri scored just before the break and Sebastian Schonlau sealed the victory for the hosts just after the hour mark.

Benjamin Hubner scored the winning goal 10 minutes from time as Hoffenheim beat Hertha 3-2. Hoffenheim were 2-0 up at half-time, but Dodi Lukebakio and Salomon Kalou both scored for Hertha after the break. Vladimir Darida was sent off late on.

The Revierderby finished goalless as Schalke and Dortmund both failed to find the back of the net. Dortmund dominated the possession, but Schalke had far more chances to claim all three points.

Robert Lewandowski became the first player to score in the first nine games of a Bundesliga season as Bayern eventually overcame Union Berlin. Benjamin Pavard gave Bayern the lead before Lewandowski made it 2-0. Sebastian Polter converted a late penalty for the visitors, but his spot-kick failed to inspire a shock comeback.

Freiburg’s impressive start to the campaign continues with a hard-fought victory over Leipzig. Nicolas Hofler and Nils Petersen got on the scoresheet for the home side, but Lukas Klostermann’s added-time strike wasn’t enough to prevent Freiburg from moving two points clear of Leipzig in the table.

Werder scraped a draw at Leverkusen despite the hosts dominating the match. Milot Rashica and Davy Klaassen put Werder ahead following an early own goal by Omer Toprak. However, Lucas Alario rescued a point for Bayer.

Super Sunday

Wolfsburg are still the only team in the Bundesliga without a defeat to their name this season. Still, they registered their fifth draw in nine games as Augsburg held them to a goalless draw at the Volkswagen Arena.

Monchengladbach are one point clear of Bayern at the top of the table following a resounding 4-2 victory over Frankfurt. Marcus Thuram continued his fantastic goal scoring form, while Oscar Wendt, Nico Elvedi and Denis Zakaria also netted for Gladbach.
