Tottenham’s priority the Premier League title

Tottenham’s priority the Premier League title

Tottenham went down to a 3-0 defeat at German giants Dortmund in the last-16 of the Europa League on Thursday night. The first leg defeat at the Signal Iduna Park has given Spurs very little chance of progressing to the next round of Europe’s second tier.

Tottenham’s highly-rated boss Mauricio Pochettino rotated his squad for the game and will no doubt be on the end of criticism from critics for his team selection. However, Pochettino has rotated his team throughout the competition and had not had a problem with results until now.

Spurs have not come up against a team with the quality of Dortmund in their previous European encounters and they were simply just good for the north London side.

Pochettino has a decent squad, but without doubt at the moment his rotation of his team was because of Spurs Premier League title challenge. Tottenham are one of the surprise Premier League title contenders, as hardly anybody who does football predictions believed that they would mount a Premier League title challenge.

For most Tottenham fans I would imagine that their challenge for the Premier League title is the team priorities this season. Spurs have never been this close to winning a top-flight title in the Premier League era.

Pochettino has had to defend his Spurs team selection, but the Argentinian should not have to, as Spurs priority this season is their title challenge. I doubt many Tottenham fans will be shedding any tears over their Europa League ending at the last-16 with Spurs are crowned champions in May.
