Where will Erling Haaland go this summer?

Where will Erling Haaland go this summer?
4513

There is absolutely no denying that Erling Haaland is set to leave Borussia Dortmund, with just about every elite European club linked with the 20-year-old.

After scoring 29 goals in 27 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg, the prodigy has continued to enhance his glowing reputation at Borussia Dortmund, bagging 47 goals and 11 assists in 48 games since moving to Germany last year.

But where will Haaland go next? Keep reading to find out which clubs are most likely to sign the forward.

• Will Manchester City sign Haaland?

One thing’s for sure – Manchester City can definitely afford to fork out the hefty transfer fee that Dortmund will surely demand for Haaland.

We all know that Man City’s squad is already packed with world-class forwards. However, with Sergio Aguero seemingly on his way out and Gabriel Jesus still unable to fully convince the Etihad faithful, Guardiola will likely be looking to sign a striker this summer.

Furthermore, Erling’s farther – Alf-Inge Haaland – used to play for Man City, so a link between the family and the club already exists.

• Haaland to Real Madrid?

It has been reported that Real Madrid are hoping to eventually lure both Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to the Bernabeu. Just think about how frightening that forward line would be!

Karim Benzema is still scoring goals at a rapid rate, although he turns 34 this year. Does this mean that Zinedine Zidane will be eager to bring in a new striker?

Ultimately, you would think that Los Blancos – regardless of their current economic situation – will do everything in their power to land Haaland.

• Will Haaland Move to Chelsea?

Despite already boasting an embarrassment of riches in the attacking department, you can never rule out Chelsea when it comes to competing for one of the hottest prospects in world soccer.

With big bucks being spent on Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech last year, along with Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud, it is difficult to see how signing Haaland would be a sensible move by the Blues.

Having said that, Chelsea's transfer policy has never really been sensible, has it? For that reason, we could easily see the young forward end up at Stamford Bridge.

• Can Barcelona afford Haaland?

Barcelona’s monetary problems have been well documented in recent times, with the club currently undergoing a rebuild led by homegrown youngsters, rather than big-money signings.

Of course, a lot depends on whether Lionel Messi opts to stay in Catalonia. If the club can convince Messi to stay, the funds may not be available to bid for Haaland. But if he goes, Barca will need to fill the void – opening the door for a Haaland move.

• Does Haaland to Manchester United make sense?

Having worked with Haaland at Molde, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arguably has an edge over his rivals when it comes to personal negotiations between the player and potential suitors.

However, let’s not forget that Manchester United tried – and failed miserably – to sign Haaland’s Dortmund team-mate Jadon Sancho last summer. The manner with which United handled those negotiations may deter Dortmund from dealing with the Old Trafford outfit.
