David Moyes is getting things right at West Ham

David Moyes is getting things right at West Ham
2030

On Tuesday night, West Ham recorded a 2-1 home win over West Brom at the London Stadium, with goals from Jarrad Bowen and Michail Antonio enough to ensure the Hammers victory.

The win moved the Irons up to sixth place in the table, in a highly competitive section of the Premier League table.

Head coach David Moyes deserves credit for his team’s good form this season, as the Scot has built a very solid and hard-working team with a pinch of flair in the likes of Jarrad Bowen and Said Benrahma. The former Everton head coach has come in for some criticism in recent years.

However, it is hard to argue with his team’s performance this season. Half-way through the season, the Irons are looking more like European challengers than the relegation strugglers they have been in the recent past in the English Premier League.

Some observers have called Moyes style of management out of date. This season is proving he still has what it takes to manage at the right end of the Premier League table.

His best spell as a boss, of course, came during his 11-year stint at Everton. The Toffees challenged for the top-six on several occasions under Moyes.

The current Hammers teams have many similarities to the Scot’s best teams on Merseyside. They are hard to beat and can grind results out.

If they can maintain their form for the rest of the season, then West Ham could very well be a surprise contender for a top-six spot, which will more than likely bring European football next season. There is still a long way to go this season and a top-six finish may not happen in the current campaign.

However, the campaign has shown that David Moyes is moving West Ham in the right direction and that he is far from finished as a Premier League boss.
