Chelsea could pull off a coup with Kai Havertz signing

According to English publication the Daily Mail, Chelsea could be set to bid a whopping £75million for Bayer Leverkusen’s young attacking star Kai Havertz. The Blues are already expected to seal the signing of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner this summer.

Signing another one of the Bundesliga’s brightest young attacking players would certainly boost head coach Frank Lampard’s forward options. The former Derby boss is known as a coach who likes to develop young players with potential. It could be argued that there are very few better young players in the European game than the Leverkusen wunderkind.

Kai Havertz is such an exciting prospect. Playing as in the false number nine position, he has scored five times in his last four appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old is a player who most top clubs in Europe would love to sign this summer, with the youngster reportedly on the radars of both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The pair are still believed to both have the financial power to pull off a move for Havertz, despite the inevitable financial effect of COVID-19.

When it comes to finances, Chelsea are in a strong position too, as they didn’t bring in players either last summer, due to a ban, or in the January transfer window.

The Blues have already signed Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech of Ajax for a fee of around £38million. With the likes of Pedro and Willian set to leave for pastures new, the team from south west London are looking to bring in fresh faces.

Signing the likes of Ziyech, Werner and Havertz would be a major signal of intent from Chelsea of a club that they want to compete at the top end of the Premier League table next season.
