Last season was another fantastic campaign for Tottenham Hotspur who finished second in the Premier League.

When all the talk starts about which teams can win the Premier League and those which will be contesting the top four places, Tottenham Hotspur is the one team which seems to be forgotten by many people.

Tottenham Hotspur have finished no lower than sixth in their previous eight Premier League seasons and have been third and second in the last two.  This is a team which is certainly capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

Last season was Tottenham Hotspur’s highest finish in the history of the Premier League and the only way they can top that this season is by winning the title.  Have Tottenham Hotspur got what it takes to win the 2017/18 Premier League?

The first thing of note is the lack of incoming transfer activity at the club.  There has not been a single player brought into the club, the only faces which may be new this season are those returning from a loan spell elsewhere.

That doesn’t mean Tottenham Hotspur will not sign at least one player before the summer transfer window closers.  Everton midfielder Ross Barkley seems set to leave Goodison Park this summer and is 5/4 to move to the Lily Whites and 13/5 to stay at Everton come the end of the transfer window.

Kyle Walker is the only major player to leave the club so far this summer. Considering the form of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, it comes as a surprise some of the rich clubs around England and the rest of Europe have not come knocking. Mauricio Pochettino seems happy for Kieran Trippier to fill the vacant spot at right-back.

Despite the loss of Walker, Tottenham Hotspur remain one of the best all round teams in the Premier League.  Last season they were not only the top goal scorers but also the team with the meanest defence.

With their attacking players all remaining at the club, Tottenham Hotspur should have little difficulty in scoring goals again this season.  Tottenham Hotspur are 13/2 to finish the 2017/18 Premier League season as top scorers and while not the favourites with the bookmakers, should score plenty of goals.

One of the main reasons Tottenham Hotspur have scored so many goals is their striker Harry Kane.  The England international has won the Golden Boot in each of the last two seasons and finished second behind Sergio Aguero in the two seasons prior to that.  Kane is 10/3 to finish as the Premier League’s top goal scorer for the third season running.

However, the big question is whether Tottenham Hotspur can win the Premier League. The have the team to do it but there is one major problem this season and that’s Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur have struggled when playing at Wembley in European competition and with the teams around them having strengthened over the summer, the Premier League title may be just out of reach.  This is reflected in their odds of 10/1, with a top four finish more realistic at 10/11.
