    Crystal Palace producing relegation form

    Crystal Palace producing relegation form

Crystal Palace’s recent poor form continued on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 home defeat against Everton. The defeat coupled with Swansea’s win at Liverpool meant the Eagles dropped into the relegation zone.

The Eagles produced a poor performance and Seamus Coleman’s late goal gave Everton a deserved lead in the end after Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey pulled off a number of saves to deny the Toffees a bigger victory.

The Eagles did hit the woodwork and Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles did produce one decent save. However, the general consensus was that Palace produced a lacklustre performance and that Sam Allardyce’s side will struggle to stay in the Premier League with many more performances like it.

Palace have now lost their last four consecutive games in the Premier League. One league win in 16 games is relegation form. The Eagles hired current boss Sam Allardyce to keep them in the top-flight, but the former England boss has won just one of his seven games in charge.

Allardyce’s only win came in a third round FA Cup replay against League One team Bolton Wanderers, ironically one of the Eagles boss’ former club’s.

One of the Eagles main problems of late has been scoring goals, as they have failed to score in three of their last four games in the top-flight. On-loan striker Loic Remy made his first start for the Eagles against Everton. When he is fully-fit the striker should aid his team’s attempts to find the back of the net.

The Eagles have also been missing winger Wilfried Zaha, who is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast. His return should help the Eagles creativity.

One thing is for sure, the Eagles have to find a solution to their current poor form, as at the moment they are playing like a team that will be relegated.
