Tottenham could be Chelsea’s biggest title threat

This season Chelsea seem to be running away with the Premier League title. The Blues are currently seven points clear of second-place Tottenham. Even without the services of star striker Diego Costa, Antonio Conte’s side hammered champions Leicester 3-0 on home soil on Saturday.

The Blues look to be in charge of the title race that is for sure. However, at the moment there is a team that could be a major threat to Conte’s team in the title race, that team is Tottenham.

The men from north London have rediscovered their form at just the right time in the season. Mauricio Pochettino’s have hit a fine run of form of late, winning their last seven games in all competitions.

In fact, Spurs have now recorded nine wins from their last ten outings in all competitions. This form has seen Pochettino’s team rise above the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City to second place in the table.

The form of England internationals Harry Kane and Dele Alli, coupled with the recent outstanding displays of Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen has seen Spurs blow their opposition away in recent games, including last time out in a 4-0 home win over West Brom.

They are deadly in attack at the moment, but their defence is also in such good form. The Spurs backline has conceded the least goals in the Premier League this season. The only grey crowd surrounding Spurs defence is a potential long-term injury to Jan Vertonghen.

However, even without Vertonghen, Pochettino has strong options in defence, with the likes of Ben Davies and Kevin Wimmer able to come into the starting line-up.

Everything is looking positive for Spurs at the moment. The side from north London head to Manchester City next weekend and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing such a vulnerable City defence.

A victory at the beleaguered City will make the club from north London believe even more that they are Chelsea’s main rivals for the title this season.
