    Morgan Schneiderlin can thrive at Everton

    Media reports suggest that French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is having a medical at Everton ahead of a £22million switch from Manchester United. The French international midfielder has endured mixed fortunes at Old Trafford.

    He impressed at times during his debut campaign following his 2015 move from Southampton. However, since the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, the 27-year-old has played just 11 minutes of Premier League football.

    Everton boss Ronald Koeman is desperate to strengthen his squad this month and the signing of Schneiderlin could be a big addition for the Toffees. The Merseysider’s had already brought in youngster Ademola Lookman from League One Charlton.

    Schneiderlin moving to Everton seems like the perfect move for all parties. Everton needs quality additions this month and judging by his two successful seasons in the top-flight with Southampton the midfielder is just that.

    The French international seemed to have all the attributes of a top defensive midfielder when he was at Southampton. He is not just a midfield destroyer, though, as he is a cultured player, who uses the ball intelligently, while also being a good shield in front of the defence.

    Toffees boss Koeman knows Schneiderlin well from their time together on the south coast. The Frenchman looks like the ideal midfield partner for the impressive Idrissa Gueye, who is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

    Schneiderlin thrived at Southampton in a partnership with Victor Wanyama and Koeman will be hoping he can have the same sort of relationship with the aforementioned Gueye.

    Given regular first team football, Schneiderlin should be able to get back to the form he showed at Southampton. His good form also attracted the interest of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, so he was very highly rated prior to his move to Old Trafford.

    Schneiderlin will be hoping to recapture his Saints form and help be part of what looks like a massive team rebuilding project on Merseyside.
