Liverpool and Leeds United clash at Anfield on Tuesday night in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

The home side head into this clash second in the Premier League and in good spirits. However, their current form has tempered by a number of recent injury problems. At the moment the Reds have injury worries over attacking midfielder trio Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino, as well as striker Daniel Sturridge.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would probably have fielded a rotated side in this clash anyway. However due to those injury worries he now has a lack of options heading the quarter-final clash with Championship Leeds United.

The team from Yorkshire also head to Merseyside in good spirits having won five of their last six games in all competitions. Under former Swansea boss Garry Monk the Whites are fifth in the Championship table and in the play-off spots.

The visitors are also likely to field a weakened side with winning promotion to the Premier League their main priority this season. However, the fact that the home side have so many problems could give them an outside chance of making it through to the last four of the competition.

The visitors do not have a good recent record against the Reds, though, as they have not won any of the last seven meetings in all competitions and have suffered five defeats in the process. Their last win at Anfield came back in 2001.

Leeds are major underdogs in this clash against their high-flying hosts. However, cup competitions have a tendency to produce shocks. The visitors seem unlucky to produce a much talked about shock against a Liverpool side that is currently unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions.

Liverpool made it to the final of this competition last season and it is not difficult seeing the Reds achieving a similar feat this season.
