Juventus have made their first singing of the summer and Ángel Di María has joined the Serie A giants on a one year deal. The Argentine left Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer and Juventus swooped for his signature.

At the age of 34, Di María is approaching the end of his career at the highest level but Max Allegri clearly believes he still has something to offer at the top of the game.

Di María is a player who is used to winning titles and he has tasted league success in Portugal, Spain, and France.

The Argentina international knows what it takes to win and he has a total of 7 league titles to his name, 5 of which came during his time in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

Di María was a vital part of the Argentina team that won the 2021 Copa América and he played in the 2014 World Cup, helping his country reach the final with the winning goal against Switzerland in the round of 16.

During his time with PSG, Di María scored 14 goals and created 21 goals for his teammates in the Champions League and it is his creativity that stands out.

Only Lionel Messi and Thomas Muller have more assists in the top five European leagues over the last 10 years. Di María has 131 assists to his name, meaning he is the third most creative player in the leading European leagues.

That will be music to the ears of Dušan Vlahović, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina last winter. The Serbian striker knows he is going to get good service from Di María and we could see a number of goals for Vlahović created by Di María.

Other than perhaps his brief time at Manchester United, which did not work out, you cannot fault Di María for his effort.

Juventus fans will see a player willing to work hard for the club and even as he turns 35 in February, Di María will be willing to give everything for the cause.

Speaking after his move to Turin, Di María talked about what he can guarantee the fans and said, “I think the only thing I can promise the fans is my effort,” before continuing, “My sacrifice, the mentality of wanting to win – and to be able to achieve as many titles as possible.

Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season and were knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16.

Juventus fans will be hoping the ability and experience of Di María can get them challenging for the Serie A title and the latter stages of the Champions League.

With the addition of Paul Pogba, Juventus have two new creative talents to terrorise opposition defences. Di María may not be able to play in every game, especially on the weekend and mid-week but when he is on the pitch, Juventus fans can expect the Argentine to create goals.
