Paul Pogba could thrive back at Juventus

According to multiple media reports, French midfielder Paul Pogba is set to sign a big-money four-year contract with Italian giants Juventus.

The 29-year-old’s contract with Premier League Manchester United expires at the end of the month, and he will be a free agent.

United reportedly offered Pogba a new deal, but the midfielder was unhappy with the way and terms of the fresh offer.

The men from Manchester will once again lose Pogba on a free transfer to Juventus, where he made a name for himself before returning to Old Trafford in 2016 when he cost United a fee of £89million.

In truth, United’s reluctance to offer Pogba another big deal is understandable, considering that he has been an inconsistent performer for most of his Red Devils career.

However, during that time, he has impressed for his national team and looked more like the world-class player he appeared at Juventus.

At Juventus, Pogba appeared to be the complete box-to-box midfielder. He was a standout player in the middle of the park. His performances for the Bianconeri lead to his big-money return to Manchester.

He was expected to have the same impact for the Red Devils as he did for the team from Turin and become a key player. Instead of consistency, Pogba showed only flashes of his undoubted ability for United.

His career now needs a revival, and maybe a return to Serie A with Juventus is precisely what he needs to rediscover his form. Juventus are a team in transition.

They need leaders, especially with veteran centre-back Giorgio Chiellini leaving for the MLS.  On his day, Pogba can lead by example on the pitch.

The midfielder has vowed to prove Manchester United wrong. There is no doubt that he has the ability to do just that, and it is now down to the midfielder to show that he still has the motivation to thrive at the top level of the game.
