Arsenal fans will feel more positive

Arsenal recorded their first Premier League victory of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win at Watford.

Goals from Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil put the Gunners into a three-goal lead at half-time. Watford’s new Argentinian attacking midfielder Roberto Pereyra scored a consolation goal for the Hornets in the second half, but it failed to spark a revival.

Gunners fans will feel slightly more positive about their team after a frustrating summer due to the lack of transfer activity from boss Arsene Wenger. The performances of Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, in particular, will have delighted the Arsenal fans.

It will have been a relief for the fans of the north London club to head into the international break on a positive note. Wenger revealed after the Watford game that the Gunners are also close to completing the paperwork to sign Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia and Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.

The club from north London are reported to have been in negotiations to sign the Mustafi for the past few weeks and a fee of up to £35million is reported to have been agreed for the Germany international.

Arsenal activated the £17million release clause in Lucas Perez’s Deportivo contract and like Mustafi is reported to have already completed his medical to join the club.

The signings are likely to placate the Arsenal fans slightly, who have been looking for the club to strengthen their squad this summer. Centre-back and striker seemed to be the priority positions for the Gunners and the new signings should give Wenger more selection options.
