Leicester still on course for Premier League title

Leicester still on course for Premier League title

Leicester may not have sealed the Premier League title at Manchester United on Sunday, but the Foxes are still on course for the most extraordinary Premier League triumph in the competitions history.

The Foxes drew 1-1 with United at Old Trafford and were reduced to ten men, as former-United midfielder Danny Drinkwater saw red for a second bookable offence.

Claudio Ranieri’s side will be crowned champions on Monday night if Tottenham fails to defeat reigning champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which is a distinct possibility considering the Blues seem determine to prevent their London rivals from winning the title.

The pressure may have got to the Foxes slightly in recent weeks with silly red cards for Jamie Vardy against West Ham and then the aforementioned Drinkwater against United.

However, Ranieri’s side grinded out a result at United, who took an early lead and were desperate for the points in the hunt for Champions League football for next season. The draw showed their resilience and character.

The Foxes played like a team gunning for the title against an in-form team who were fighting for their own cause. Leicester are looking more and more the champions with every game that goes by this season.

Every week cynics and fans alike have said this will be the week that the Fixes slip-up and they just keep collecting points and topping the Premier League table. Ranieri’s side are now seven points clear of second-place Tottenham.

The Foxes did not celebrate being crowned champions on Sunday, but they could very well be celebrating being champions of England on Monday night. There is unlikely to ever be a story like there’s in the Premier League and a team from the established order at the top winning the title can only be good for the league as whole.
