Leicester within touching distance of title

Leicester within touching distance of title

Leicester moved one step closer to securing the Premier League title on Saturday by winning 1-0 at Crystal Palace to move eight points clear at the top of the table. The Foxes continue defy all football predictions by holding their nerve in the title race.

The Foxes once again showed a great resilience at Selhurst Park to record their third straight 1-0 win courtesy of a solitary strike from Algerian playmaker Riyad Mahrez, who has now scored  16 times and produced 11 assists in the top-flight.

The Foxes have produced the sort of performances that their title rivals have failed to this season by grinding out results and remaining resolute in defence, while always looking dangerous on the counter-attack through the excellent Mahrez and the highly-energetic Jamie Vardy.

There pressure is now ramped-up on second-place Tottenham to reduce the gap again by defeating Bournemouth later today at White Hart Lane. However, even if Spurs do record a victory the games are starting to run out for the north London outfit and the others hoping to catch-up the wily Foxes.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is claiming that he is not yet thinking about winning the Premier League title, but the veteran Italian must have considered the possibility of the Foxes becoming champions, as they are within touching distance of winning the top-flight title for the first time in the clubs history.

The Foxes winning the Premier League against all odds would be one of the greatest ever underdog stories that the game has ever seen and it could not happen to a better group of people.
