Just eight matchdays remain in the 2024-25 Premier League season. There is still plenty to play for, with clubs scrambling for European places. Of course, there is still a title to decide, too.
Individual awards are also still up for grab, with the biggest one of them all – the Golden Boot – likely to go right down to the wire. Or will it?
Back-to-back 20 goal seasons for Newcastle's number 14 💪

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is top of the goal-scoring pile with 27 goals. The Egyptian, who is currently likely to leave Anfield in the summer, has bagged 39% of Liverpool’s goals.
There is a chance that Salah won’t just be Golden Boot winner, but he could also be the Player of the Season. However, there are eight matches left and, with Arsenal only 12 points behind Liverpool, anything can still happen.
Salah has scored consistently in the league this season, despite being held relatively quiet versus Everton in midweek. He scored nine goals in his last nine Premier League games, helping him grow a gap between the rest of the league’s goal scorers.
Erling Haaland has the best chance of catching Salah; or at least he did. Haaland, who has 21 goals, is currently ruled out of action with an ankle injury.
The Norwegian could be out for up to seven weeks. However, some reports have indicated, Haaland could be ruled out for the remainder of the season, and seven weeks is merely a hopeful claim.
If Haaland does miss the remainder of the season, then it should leave Salah’s greatest goal-scoring rival out of action.
Is there anyone who can stop Salah? Alexander Isak could provide the best chance of a player stopping the Liverpool winger. Isak, who has been linked to Liverpool in a summer transfer, has 20 goals – 41% of Newcastle’s scoring – and is third in the Golden Boot race.
Isak scored three goals in his last four games. However, the issue Isak may have is injuries. The Swedish striker has missed three league matches due to injury this season.
There is a possibility he could pick up a knock or worse in the remaining weeks. Isak could miss out on Monday night’s trip to Leicester City due to a recently picked up injury.
Which player has the easier run in? Well, it depends, as Liverpool are fighting for a title and need Salah to step up and score goals to fend off Arsenal. Meanwhile, Newcastle are fighting for a top-four finish.
