Manchester United produced the first managerial casualty of the 2024-25 Premier League season, sacking Erik ten Hag in late October.

With several clubs struggling towards the bottom end of the table, it is surely only a matter of time before the second sacking of the campaign occurs.

Below, Forebet takes a closer look at the leading contenders in the Premier League sack race, discussing which manager could lose their job next.

Julen Lopetegui – West Ham United

Following a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, the Hammers have now lost five of their 10 Premier League matches since Julen Lopetegui took charge.

West Ham parted company with David Moyes in the summer, after the experienced manager had guided the club to Europa Conference League glory in 2022-23.

Many fans were pleased when Lopetegui replaced Moyes, but the new boss has failed to make an impact and could find himself without a job soon.

    Russell Martin – Southampton

Southampton finally picked up their first Premier League win of the season last time out, claiming a 1-0 victory over Everton at St. Mary’s.

Still, the Saints remain second from bottom in the table and three points inside the relegation zone, having lost eight of their 10 league games this term.

Russell Martin has refused to change his coaching style and managerial approach, although his stubbornness could see him lose his job if Southampton continue to struggle.

    Gary O’Neil – Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves are the only team without a Premier League victory in 2024-25, having record three draws and seven defeats so far.

To make matters worse for Gary O’Neil’s side, they have conceded a whopping 27 goals – six more than Ipswich Town, who have the second-worst defensive record.

There is a feeling that O’Neil has credit in the bank with the Wolves hierarchy. However, the powers that be may run out of patience if the team’s woes drag on.

    Oliver Glasner – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace finished the previous campaign on a high, winning six of their final seven matches under the guidance of new manager Oliver Glasner.

This season, however, the Eagles have managed to win just one of their 10 Premier League games, underlining a clear drop-off in form.

Glasner is a successful manager, having led Eintracht Frankfurt to the Europa League title in 2021-22, but the Premier League is a different beast altogether.
