The summer transfer window closes on Friday 30th August and that leaves just one week for clubs to finalise their moves.

Premier League clubs have until 11pm BST to complete their transfer business and although the stats show Premier League spending is currently down by £800 million when compared to last summer, there is still time. Who could be on the move ahead of Friday?

Raheem Sterling is one of the big name players who is likely to switch clubs before transfer deadline day. The England international has been frozen out at Chelsea having made 81 league appearances for the club since joining from Manchester City for £50 million in 2022.

Sterling scored 19 goals and registered 12 assists in those 81 Premier League matches and played 31 times for Chelsea in the league last season. At 29 years of age, Sterling has plenty of experience and could be a valuable addition for many clubs, with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Juventus reportedly interested.

Romelu Lukaku, Ben Chilwell, and Trevoh Chalobah are 3 more players who could leave Stamford Bridge this week, either permanently or on loan.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been left out of the squad for their opening 2 fixtures of the Premier League season. The 28-year-old England striker is unlikely to remain at the Gtech Community Stadium and the club have already turned down a £35m bid by Saudi club Al-Ahli.

Toney is a proven Premier League goal scorer having netted 20 goals in 33 appearances in 2022/23. Toney’s game time was limited last season due to a ban and he is out of contract next summer. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been linked in the past and it could be the latter who attempt a late bid.

Crystal Palace have already lost Joachim Andersen to Fulham and will be worried about the future of fellow defender, Marc Guehi. The centre back played well for England at Euro 2024 and The Eagles have already turned down a bid of around £60 million from Newcastle United.

It is believed Crystal Palace will be willing to sell for £70 million but Newcastle will need to sell players before they can meet that valuation. Guehi has played 88 times in the Premier League over the past 3 seasons, proving he is a consistent performer. There is also room for improvement at the age of 24.

In terms of shock transfers, the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold is extremely interesting. The Liverpool man looked unhappy having been substituted on the weekend and has just one year remaining on his current deal.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with Alexander-Arnold and if a new contract is not signed at Anfield, he could begin negotiations with a non-Premier League club in January. Despite playing mostly from the right back position, Alexander-Arnold has produced 57 assists in the Premier League alone across 6 seasons, at an average of 9.5 per season.

With Dani Carvajal approaching the end of his career at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid might be tempted with a bid before the end of the week.

Some of the other Premier League players predicted to be on the move before deadline day include Aaron Ramsdale, Kieran Trippier, Jarrad Branthwaite, Scott McTominay, Jadon Sancho, and Joao Cancelo.
