Top 5 Most Expensive Summer Transfers (2023)
633

The return of domestic football is upon us following the international break. With the transfer window now closed until January, now is the perfect time to evaluate the biggest moves of the summer.

Here are the top five most expensive summer transfers.

5. Randal Kolo Muani – Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris Saint-Germain (€95m)

After racking up 23 goals and 17 assists for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, Randal Kolo Muani earned himself a €95m move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old has made 10 international appearances for France, and his stock will only continue to rise as he plies his trade for the biggest club in the country. Is Kolo Muani the long-term replacement for Kylian Mbappe?

4. Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich (€100m)

Following years of uncertainty surrounding his future, Harry Kane finally left Tottenham Hotspur in August, joining perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in a deal worth €100m.

Kane bagged 278 goals and 64 assists in 430 games for Spurs, establishing himself as a club legend. Unsurprisingly, the prolific striker has already netted three goals in three games for Bayern.

3. Jude Bellingham – Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid (€103m)

Jude Bellingham may only be 20, but he has already amassed more than €130m in transfer fees. After moving from Birmingham City to Borussia Dortmund in 2020, the English prodigy joined Real Madrid for €103m this summer.

With more than a century of Dortmund appearances in the bank, Bellingham has hit the ground running in La Liga, netting five goals across his first four outings for Los Blancos. The sky’s the limit for the box-to-box midfielder.

2. Moises Caicedo – Brighton & Hove Albion to Chelsea (€116m)

It is no secret that Chelsea have spent an outrageous amount of money on multiple players since Todd Boehly’s arrival. However, Moises Caicedo is the most expensive acquisition, joining from Brighton for a whopping €116m.

The 21-year-old midfielder made a name for himself at Brighton, cementing his status as one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League. Can he make the step up at Chelsea?

1. Declan Rice – West Ham United to Arsenal (€116.6m)

Declan Rice from West Ham to Arsenal is officially the most expensive transfer of the summer window, with the Gunners forking out €116.6m to sign the 24-year-old midfielder.

Rice made 245 appearances for his boyhood club, bagging 15 goals and 13 assists along the way. Now, the England international has the chance to take his game to the next level with Arsenal.
