Zamalek SC over in Egypt have been breaking records like not many leagues have witnessed. They find themselves with barely a scratch on their record after two seasons, and with a league title in the bag last season and another set to come this year, Zamalek have been the main side in Egypt for two years.

Here’s everything to know about this club during a historic period.

History of Zamalek

With nicknames Madraset El Fan Wel Handassa, El Nady El Malaky, El Qalaa El Baida, El Fares El Abyad and Nady El Qarn El Afriky El Ha'iei, Zamalek fans are spoiled for choice in which to call their team.

Whether this be the Real African Club of the Century or the Royal Club, the club play out their games at the Cairo International Stadium that seats 75,000 people.

Zamalek have won the lot down in Egypt. Four Egyptian Super Cups and even a stunning five CAF Champions Leagues since the first title win in 1984 put them as one of the most successful and recognizable teams in Africa.

What's more, the club have won the Egyptian Premier League 13 times since the first triumph back in 1960. There would be a few more victories in the 60s, one in the 1970s and a further two in the 80s and two in the 1990s.

Then came three in a row at the start of the 2000s, before a 2014/15 title win ended an 11-year wait, before they regained the Egyptian Premier League last season.

The Unbeaten Run

Zamalek have now achieved a winning run of nine straight wins in the Egypt Premier League. This does now mean the club haven't lost a match in 45 of their last 49 matches in the league and sit with a record of 23 wins from 30 games in their title defence for this season.

In fact, they are unbeaten in their past 13 games in all competitions and the league title is just weeks away from being there’s once again.

More About the Club

Led by the manager Jesualdo Ferreira in today's world, Zamalek are one of the oldest clubs in Africa with 111 years of history. The club is based in Giza, and following on from a trophy-laden few decades, they became the most titled African team in the 20th century.

Zamalek is also the first Egyptian team to ever qualify to the FIF A Club World Cup when it qualified in 2000 to the 2001 championship, despite the cancellation of the championship later on.
