Sporting Braga set for a win over Maritimo

On Wednesday evening, Sporting Braga will look to consolidate their place in the top-four of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, as they welcome Maritimo to the Estadio Municipal de Braga.

Braga are fourth in the Portuguese top-flight table. However, the home side are just six points behind league leaders Porto and two behind second-place Benfica. Therefore, a win in this clash would keep them right in the hunt for the title, as well as consolidating their spot in the European positions.

A three-game winning run in the Primeira Liga came to a screaming halt when the home side suffered a 6-2 thumping at Benfica last time out in the league.

One positive for Braga from their visit to Lisbon is that they have now managed to score at least two goals in three of their last four outings in the Primeira Liga.

Braga have a strong recent home record in the Portuguese top-flight, as they are unbeaten in 14 home games while recording 12 wins in the process. They have also scored at least two goals in five of their last seven home matches, including their last three outings.

Maritimo are currently 15th in the Primeira Liga, only outside the relegation zone by courtesy of a superior goal difference to 16th place CD Aves.

The visitor’s recent league form has been dire, as they have failed to win in their last ten league matches while suffering eight defeats. Last time out, Maritimo suffered a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Tondela.

Unsurprisingly, the visitor’s recent away form has been poor, as they have failed to win in their last five league games on their travels, suffering four defeats along the way.

Forebet predicts that Sporting Braga will record a victory in a high scoring encounter to stay on the coattails of the top teams in the Primeira Liga.
