Will West Ham continue fine form?

Will West Ham continue fine form?

West Ham have won five of their last six Premier League matches as manager Manuel Pellegrini has got his squad playing at its best. The Hammers’ record transfer signing Felipe Anderson is playing his best football for the club currently.

The forward struck twice against Southampton in midweek within six minutes to give West Ham a come from behind win. Anderson now has eight goals and two assists since arriving.

While West Ham are thriving under Pellegrini, Burnley could be on their way down to the Championship. The Turf Moor-based club has lost nine of its last 12 Premier League matches. Just twice in that time have Burnley recorded a win. In early November, Burnley lost to West Ham 4-2 at the London Olympic Stadium. Sean Dyche’s team is in desperate need of a win. Burnley are three points off of safety and a loss combined with results elsewhere could see them stuck even deeper in the relegation zone.

Pellegrini’s team has been fantastic on the road in recent weeks. West Ham have won three straight road games The Hammers have kept two clean sheets during that winning run. West Ham’s last three away games have seen them outscore opponents 7-1.

Burley have the second worst home points total in the Premier League. The Clarets have only won twice at Turf Moor registering a –10-goal difference. Their most recent home game saw them allow five goals against Everton. Dyche continues to bemoan bad referee decisions and other teams diving. However, his complaints are simply taking the focus off of his team’s lack of quality. Burnley are the least talented team in the Premier League and their 17 goals scored is proof. It is the third worst total in the league. Burnley have allowed the second most goals (41).

West Ham have been scoring goals galore in recent games. The Hammers have scored at least two goals in five of their last six league matches. The last five meetings between Burnley and West Ham have been dominated by the London outfit. West Ham have won four of their last six matches against Burnley while drawing once and losing once. Their last four meetings have ended in two or more goals scored.

Leading sportsbooks have West Ham as the favourite, but it isn’t by much. A win bet for West Ham would be a great pick thanks to their continued dominance over Burnley. The Clarets give up goals, so expect West Ham to find the back of the net a few times.
