Tottenham Hotspur may not have strengthened their squad in the summer transfer window, yet they are just six points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Tottenham’s recent form, five straight wins, has led them to second in the table and a three-horse race for the Premier League title has opened up. Spurs are now one point ahead of Manchester City, who have suffered three defeats in their last four matches.

Wolverhampton Wanderers escaped Craven Cottage on Boxing Day with a draw. Wolves are 10th in the league, but have only gained one point from their last two matches. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is just six points back of sixth place. Wolves could still make Europe in their first year back in the top-flight, but they must become more consistent and hope teams in front of them drop points.

Tottenham defeated Wolves in their previous meeting this term, 3-2, at Molineaux. Spurs raced out to a 3-0 lead against Wolverhampton before giving up two penalties in the second half for a close finish. Prior to their meeting in November, the two English clubs hadn’t met since 2012.

In their six most recent games in the top-flight, Tottenham are undefeated in five matches. Three of those five games ended in wins. Wolves’ last win against Tottenham came in 2010 at Molineaux. It ended 1-0. Since then, the clubs’ last five games have all seen two or more goals.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side in great scoring form lately. Tottenham have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven league matches. In addition, Tottenham are undefeated in 34 of their last 38 home league matches.

Midfielder Dele Alli missed Spurs’ game against Bournemouth with an injury. Alli is still recovering from a knock sustained against Everton last weekend. Spurs could hold Alli out of Wolves’ visit as they prepare for the new year. Wolverhampton have been without important midfielder Diogo Jota for the last two games due to a hamstring. Although he is closing in on a return, it is unknown if he will be fit to face Tottenham for a full 90 minutes.

Tottenham go into Saturday’s match at Wembley as the sportsbooks’ heavy favourite. Spurs have been in great form and with their previous victory over Wolves, should once again claim all three points. Spurs are chasing Liverpool and could inch closer as the Reds take on Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening. Tottenham will win all three points and continue their great Premier League run.
