Inter aim to continue fine Serie A form

Inter Milan travel to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday to battle Serie A rivals Roma. Inter sit in third place and a win plus results elsewhere could send them into second place. Roma are seventh and struggling under manager Eusebio di Francesco.
The Giallorossi lost to Real Madrid in midweek in the Champions League. It followed a shock 1-0 Serie A loss to Udinese. Roma have collected 19 of 39 points possible and sporting director Monchi’s buying and selling of key players has turned Roma into a mid-table Serie A team. The Giallorossi have won just once in their last five matches.
Eleven of Roma’s 19 points have come at home. They have lost just once at the Olimpico while posting a +7-goal difference. Roma have a number of injuries going into the game. Ante Coric, Edin Dzeko, Stephan El Shaarawy, Daniele De Rossi, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Diego Perotti are just a few of the high-profile names that will be missing. Without so many important attacking players, Roma will struggle in front of goal against Inter Milan like they did in their last two matches in all competitions.
Inter are also coming off of a midweek Champions League loss. The Nerazzurri fell to Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley. Luciano Spalletti’s team can still go through to the knockout stages of the Champions League depending on results on matchday 6. Influential midfielder Radja Nainggolan will most likely miss the match with his old team. The Belgian is suffering from a muscle injury yet again.
The Nerazzurri have posted the second-best points total away from home. Inter have collected 12 of 18 points while recording a +2-goal difference. They did lose 4-1 in their most recent away fixture against Atalanta.
The two famous Italian clubs have split their last six matches with two wins apiece and two draws. Last season, Inter won 3-1 at the Olimpico before drawing 1-1 at home in their second meeting. Three of their last six games have featured more than 2.5 goals. Inter Milan have won eight of their last nine Serie A matches while keeping five clean sheets in their last seven league games. Mauro Icardi has scored seven times for Inter. Three of his goals have come in Inter’s last two Serie A away games.
Inter go into the match in much better form than Roma. The Giallorossi’s injuries will keep several top stars off the pitch and give Inter the upper hand. Inter will win in Rome and continue their great form this season.
