For all the apparent talk of crisis that was meant to be taking place at Tottenham it seems as if it only needed a win for that to all dissipate. Mauricio Pochettino’s men were perhaps not at their best at Brighton last weekend, but the result was far more important than the performance.

And it was one that saw them clinch all three points thanks to goals from Harry Kane, who scored a first half penalty and Erik Lamela who made sure of the win after coolly slotting home after the interval.

That win sees Tottenham full of confidence as they prepare for a trip to Huddersfield this weekend while looking to make it back to back Premier League wins. At the same time though David Wagner’s men are still looking for their first win of the campaign.

It seems as if the spark has escaped from the Terriers as they have managed to pick up just two points from a possible 18 so far this season, but at the same time it seems like this is not just a rut which is confined to this campaign.

Huddersfield arguably stayed up last time around due to such a bright start to the season, this time around though they haven’t even had that as the plight of ‘Second Season Syndrome’ looks like it is taking full effect.

With a healthy tally of points that were earned in the first half of last season, it meant that they were never really in a relegation fight come the final few weeks. Something that suggests it could be an even tougher plight for the club over the next few months.

They took the lead against Leicester last weekend, but it was an advantage that they could not hold to as the Foxes went up through the gears to deliver a comeback win in front of their own fans at the King Power Stadium.

And although Huddersfield found the net on Saturday it is the lack of goals which will be such a concern to manager David Wagner, especially when going up against a Tottenham side that although shaky as of late does possess some real quality in defence.

It of course also has quality up front as last season Tottenham ran riot here as they strolled to a 4-0 win, something that they will be quietly confident of achieving when the two sides meet on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham need to make sure that the win over Brighton was not one that takes place in isolation and that they start to get a run of results and more importantly wins behind them as they look to close the gap on the teams ahead of them.

With a six-point margin to Liverpool at present they will be hoping that they and Chelsea can take points off of each other when they face later in the day. That said, Spurs will need to make sure they focus on the job in hand.

Something that they are more than capable of doing and if it all clicks as it should, then you cannot see anything other than a win for the North London outfit, as they compile more misery on a struggling Huddersfield side.
