West Ham Set to Continue Miserable Start

West Ham Set to Continue Miserable Start

There are two Premier League fixtures to look forward to on Sunday afternoon with the final game between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park.

Everton will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2018/19 season with a win while West Ham will be hoping to give their fans something to cheer about following their poor start to the campaign.

Despite being unbeaten in five games this season, the Toffees have made an inconsistent start to the season.  Trends show Everton have won one of their four Premier League games which came at home against Southampton.

However, the difficulties have come when trying to hold onto leads and Everton twice gave up the lead against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the opening weekend of the season.  Having taken a 2-0 lead in the match at Bournemouth, Everton conceded 2 goals late in the second half two draw 2-2.

In their most recent match at home against Huddersfield Town, Everton were forced to come from behind to pick up a point in a 1-1 draw.

Its hardly a convincing start to life under Marco Silva and trends show Everton have won only one of their last six Premier League games.  Defensively there is work to do for the Toffees and they have seen both teams score in each of their last seven competitive matches but remain undefeated at home in their last six.

West Ham have made a dreadful start to the season in the Premier League. The Hammers come into this game sitting bottom of the table without a point to their name having played four games.  They are the only team yet to get off the mark this season.

The first match of the season at Liverpool was always going to be tough and West Ham lost 4-0.  The home game against Bournemouth was the one which was supposed to hand Manuel Pellegrini his first league win as Hammers boss but they lost the game 2-1 despite taking the lead.

West Ham then took the lead at Arsenal only to lose the match 3-1 and slumped to another poor home defeat, losing 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Trends show West ham struggle when playing away and they have won three of their last twenty-one away Premier League games.  Both teams have scored in nine of West Ham’s last eleven away league matches.

Team news and Everton are still without Richarlison who serves the final match of his suspension.  Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, James McCarthy, Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka are injured while Theo Walcott is a big doubt.

West Ham will travel without Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini and Andy Carroll.  Marco Arnautovic will continue up-front but Pellegrini could make changes to both his formation and personnel following the home defeat to Wolves.

Everton have several injury concerns which could give West Ham a chance but the Hammers have been so poor that Everton should have enough to pick up maximum points from this game.  A home win with both team scoring is a good possibility.
