The final match of 2017 in the Premier League sees West Bromwich Albion welcome Arsenal to the Hawthorns.

This match has huge significance at both ends of the league table as West Brom aim to pick up a crucial win which could take them out of the relegation zone.  Arsenal on the other hand, are looking towards the top of the table and need a win to keep the pressure on the teams inside the top four.

Trends show West Brom have won only two of their Premier League games this season, which is lower than any other team in the league, including bottom place Swansea City.

Not only have West Brom been struggling for wins this season but they were finding 3 points tough to pick up towards the end of last season and they have won just two of their last twenty-nine Premier League games.

A look at their home form and things do not improve.  West Brom have won just one of their last fifteen home matches in all competitions and that victory was back at the start of this campaign, against Bournemouth.

Scoring goals has been a problem for West Brom and they have failed to score in four of their last six Premier League games and three of the last five at home.

Arsenal travel to the midlands having won 3-2 at Crystal Palace on Thursday night. The win means Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, with four wins and three draws to their name.

However, despite being undefeated in their last five Premier League games, Arsenal have won only two of them, which came at home to Newcastle United and away to Crystal Palace.

Away from home in the Premier League, Arsenal’s form has improved following a run of defeats through the early part of the campaign.  The Gunners have won two and drawn two of their last four away league games, including a good 1-0 win at Burnley.

Trends show Arsenal have defeated West Brom in nine of their last twelve meetings in all competitions and have won by 2 or more goals in three of their last six games in the Premier League.

Looking ahead to the team news and West Brom will be without the injured duo of Nacer Chadli and James Morrison.  There is also a doubt over striker Salomon Rondon.

Arsenal could make several changes to their starting XI with another match fast approaching against Chelsea.  However, Arsene Wenger will have to make do without Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla who are injured.  Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi, Danny Welbeck and Francis Coquelin will be hoping to start the match.

In truth, whichever starting XI Wenger decides to pick for this game, Arsenal are the favourites to take maximum points.  Alan Pardew is already coming under pressure since his appointment at the Hawthorns and Arsenal will fancy their chances of winning this game, even if it is by a single goal margin.
