Malaga host Eibar in La Liga on Monday night at La Rosaleda, as both sides look to get their league campaigns off to a winning start.

Malaga have endured a difficult summer, losing Sandro Ramirez, Ignacio Camacho and Pablo Fornals. The loss of those key players seems to have had a big effect on the team during pre-season, as Michel’s side have lost seven of their eight pre-season games.

The Andalucian’s form towards the end of last season was good, though, as they won four out of their last six La Liga games. The only defeat during that period was a 2-0 home defeat by champions Real Madrid on the final day of the campaign.

The defeat against the Spanish champions also brought to an end a four-game winning run on home soil, in which Michel’s team scored two or more goals in each victory. However, without the attacking talents of Sandro and Fornals, they could find goals difficult to come by this season.

Eibar produced a very creditable tenth place finish last season under Jose Luis Mendilibar. The minnows produced some decent football and were hard to beat in the process.

The home sides form started to dip towards the end of the campaign, though, and they suffered three consecutive defeats in the final three games. Eibar’s games were also very tight towards the end of last season, as seven of their last eight games last season saw under 2.5 goals scored.

The visitor’s away form in La Liga towards the end of the campaign was also poor, as they failed to win any of their last four games on their travels, suffering three defeats in the process.

Eibar also failed to score in three of those four away games. They ended that goal drought in a 4-2 defeat at Barcelona on the final day of the season.

Despite key departures for Malaga this summer, Forebet predicts that the Andalucian’s will record a victory over the visitors.
