Eagles to fly at Chaves

Portuguese champions Benfica will look to make it two out of two wins in the Primeira Liga when they visit Chaves on Monday night.
Chaves started the new league season in the same manner they finished the last campaign, in poor form, as they lost 3-2 at Vitoria Guimaraes. The defeat means the home side have now failed to win any of their last eight games in the Portuguese top-flight.
In fact, Chaves have won just one of their last 13 games in the league and the home side have a tough task on their hands trying to improve that record at home against the champions.
Luis Castro’s side have fared slightly better on home soil in the Primeira Liga and have lost just one of their last five home games in the Portuguese top-flight.
A big problem for the home side of late has been a leaky defence that has conceded two or more goals in seven of their last eight games in the Primeira Liga.
Champions Benfica opened their Primeira Liga campaign with a 3-1 win over Sporting Braga last weekend. The win means that Rui Vitoria’s side are now unbeaten in 16 games in the Portuguese top-flight.
Unsurprisingly, the Eagles have won four of their last five outings in the Primeira Liga, having also scored two or more in four of their last five league outings.
The visitor’s away record in the Primeira Liga is also good, as they are unbeaten in seven league games on their travels. In contrast to their home games, Benfica’s games on the road have been very low scoring of late, with under 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last ten away games in the league.
Benfica head into this clash as big favourites and Forebet predicts that the champions will return to the Portuguese capital with maximum points.
