Manchester United open their Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon by hosting West Ham at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils head into this Premier league opener on the back of a 2-1 European Super Cup defeat against European champions Real Madrid. The defeat was part of a mixed set of results for Jose Mourinho’s team in pre-season.
United finished last season by suffering just two defeats in their last 29 games in the top-flight. Both of those losses came in the home sides last five games of the campaign and both were in north London at Arsenal and Tottenham.
Mourinho’s side are unbeaten in 17 home games in the Premier League. United’s games towards the end of the Premier League campaign were low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight games.
West Ham have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in the likes of Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez. The Hammers have managed to claim three draws from their last four visits to Old Trafford.
However, the Hammers have endured an underwhelming pre-season campaign, failing to win any of their last four games. Bilic’s side actually finished last season in a decent fashion, suffering just one defeat in their last seven games in the Premier League.
The visitors are unbeaten in three Premier League games unbeaten on their travels. The Hammers recent away games in the top-flight have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six games in their travels in the league.
Former Manchester United striker Hernandez is expected to make his competitive debut for the Hammers against his former club.
Forebet predicts that Manchester United will kick-off their Premier League campaign with a victory over the travelling Hammers.
