Waterford to secure massive win against Cabinteely
Waterford will look to continue their good campaign in the Irish First Division on Friday night, as they host Cabinteely at Waterford Regional Sports Centre.
The home side are currently top of the table, clear of second place Cobh Ramblers by two points, having picked up 30 points from their 15 games so far this season. Alan Reynolds team have suffered just one defeat in their league campaign so far and look good for promotion this season.
Their recent form has been good in the Irish second tier, having won four of their last five games in the league, which has put them on the brink of being promoted back to the Irish top-flight.
The key to Waterford’s good campaign has been their home form, as they have won seven of their last eight home games in the second tier. The home side’s recent league games have been low scoring, as six of their last seven league games have produced under 2.5 goals.
The home side have a decent record against Cabinteely in the First Division, having won five of the last ten meetings, with the visitors winning just twice. However, Waterford are unbeaten in five games against Cabinteely on home soil, recording four wins in the process.
Cabinteely have experienced a decent campaign and are fourth in the First Division table. The minnows from Dublin are three games unbeaten in the second tier, having recorded two wins and a draw, with the draw coming last time out in a 3-3 draw against UCD.
Pat Devlin’s side have lost just one of their last six away games in the First Division. However, they have won just two of their last 25 away games in the second tier.
This is a vital game for Waterford and they should have enough quality to see off the visitors to secure promotion back to the Irish top-flight.
