Fantasy Premier League – FPL Gameweek 18 Picks
3904

Following a weekend off due to the FA Cup, Fantasy Premier League returns this week, although there are only six midweek fixtures making up Gameweek 18.

With a limited fixture list, many FPL players will be looking to use their chips this week, with the Free Hit and Wildcard likely to be popular choices.

Here is the fixture list for Gameweek 18.

• Burnley vs. Manchester United

• Sheffield United vs. Newcastle United

• Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Everton

• Manchester City vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

• Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur

• Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace

Man Utd can go top if they avoid defeat to Burnley, while winless Sheff Utd host off-form Newcastle. Man City can break into the top four, with Arsenal looking to move into the top half.

Let’s take a look at the top picks for Gameweek 18.

Goalkeepers

Emi Martinez (Aston Villa) is currently top of the clean sheet charts, having achieved eight shutouts in 15 matches (53.3%).

Ederson (Man City) has kept seven clean sheets in 14 games (50%), while Nike Pope (Burnley) and Hugo Lloris (Tottenham) both have six shutouts to their name.

Sheff Utd are the lowest scorers in the Premier League, so Karl Darlow (Newcastle) could be in line for a clean sheet at Bramall Lane.

Defenders

With the Baldes’ goalscoring woes in mind, Newcastle defenders Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark and Jamal Lewis are likely to pick up points this week.

After scoring in the previous round, Kieran Tierney (Arsenal) and Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham) were the highest scoring defenders last week.

Burnley are the second-lowest scorers in the division, so Man Utd defenders Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are all worth considering.

Midfielders

Son Heung-min (Tottenham), Bruno Fernades (Man Utd) and Kevin De Bruyne (Man City) are among the best premium picks for Gameweek 18.

If you’re looking for a budget midfield option, Ruben Neves (Wolves), Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal) and Abdoulaye Doucoure (Everton) are all decent selections.

It is worth noting that Anwar El Ghazi (Aston Villa) has netted five goals in his previous six appearances. He is definitely one of the league’s in-form players right now.

Forwards

Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal) was the highest scoring forward in the previous round. The Frenchman has scored four goals in his last three outings.

Harry Kane (Tottenham) added another goal and assist to his tally last time out. The England captain has bagged ten goals in 11 assists in 16 league matches this term.

Solid budget options include Callum Wilson (Newcastle), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) and Chris Wood (Burnley).
