Is There a Return to the Win Column and Clean Sheets for Nice Against Montpellier?
1701

Matchday 25 of Ligue 1 kicks off with Nice and Montpellier on Friday night and Forebet is back to bring you all of the latest trends, mathematics, data and analysis to conclude the probability of winning in this game.

Although dropping from second into fifth after a winless run in the past few weeks, it has still been a great season for Nice.

The club finished ninth last time out, but they are now in fifth and sitting with 40 points on the board and the best defensive record in Ligue 1 with just 17 goals let in across the 24 matches.

In fact, only Bayer Leverkusen over in the Bundesliga and Inter Milan in Serie A have better defensive records on the respective domestic fronts, with this 17-goal tally even being one better than Real Madrid over in La Liga.

As mentioned, however, Nice have dropped form second into fifth in recent times and now sit six points behind Brest after a winning run from the latter too.

Nice are on a five-game winless run in Ligue 1 now, but their trends and data of clean sheets has continued to some degree after a 0-0 draw with Brest and Clermont Foot.

The other results in this period has seen Nice lose at home to Monaco and suffer losses on the road against Lyon and Toulouse.

This does mean a winless league run throughout February and now March so far, as Evann Guessand was the last hero to score a winning goal with a penalty at home to Metz at the end of January.

Heading into this game, however, Nice will take great confidence from the fact they defeated Montpellier just a few weeks ago in a French Cup round of 16 battle.

Over at the Stade de la Mosson, the club went 4-0 up thanks to a goal each from Tom Luchet, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, Mohamed-Ali Cho and Alexis Claude Maurice, as Modibo Sagnan brought one back for Montpellier in the second half.

Montpellier also continue to struggle in Ligue 1 too, as they have now lost to Marseille and drawn with Strasbourg in the past two weeks to keep them in 16th and in the relegation playoff spot.

The club are three clear of Metz in the automatic drop zone, but with a gap of one point on Le Havre above them, there is still work to be done.

Forebet predicts a return to winning ways for Nice and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
