Forebet’s conveyor belt of football predictions continues to roll, with attention turning towards the upcoming Premier League clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Relegation-threatened Brentford host title-chasing Manchester City on Monday, as the Bees go in search of a third consecutive win against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Although Thomas Frank’s side trail the defending champions by 24 points after 21 games, the hosts can take confidence from their recent record in this fixture.

On Wednesday, Brentford suffered a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, with the hosts scoring three goals in the space of eight second-half minutes.

Funnily enough, each of the Bees’ previous three matches have ended 3-2, with an FA Cup defeat to Wolves preceding a league victory over Nottingham Forest.

There is no hiding the fact that Frank’s men are in poor form at the moment, as they have lost eight of their last 10 Premier League encounters.

That said, the Bees have only lost four of their 11 home league games this season, winning four of the previous seven while scoring three goals in each of those victories.

Manchester City, meanwhile, claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory over Burnley on Wednesday, with Julian Alvarez bagging a brace on his birthday.

Guardiola’s side have now won each of their last four Premier League matches, as well as each of their previous eight games across all competitions.

Better still, Man City have lost just one of their last 21 games across all competitions, progressing in multiple competitions while winning the Club World Cup.

Having scored 15 goals in their previous six Premier League outings – averaging 2.5 goals per game – City will likely score more than once on Monday.

Head-to-head: Brentford did the double over Man City last season, winning 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium before winning the reverse fixture 1-0 on home soil.

Although the recent H2H stats favour the Bees, it is worth remembering that City claimed two clean-sheet victories over Frank’s side in 2021-22.

Team news: Brentford’s injury list contains Rico Henry, Bryan Mbeumo, Aaron Hickey and Kevin Schade, while Yoanne Wissa, Frank Onyeka and Saman Ghoddos are on international duty.

With Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne back in the fold, Manchester City’s sole injury doubt for Monday’s clash is Manuel Akanji, who has a slight knee issue.

Despite Brentford’s impressive results in this fixture last season, Man City are expected to flex their muscles this time around.

Forebet predicts that Manchester City will score over 2.5 goals on their way to dispatching Brentford, who are on course to suffer a ninth defeat in 11 league games.
