The Estadio de Balaídos will open its doors for Celta Vigo once more this weekend with Real Sociedad up next for the struggling side from Galicia as the away team aims to close the gap on the top four.

After getting into the top four last season and consistently putting up a threat in the European spots of La Liga, Sociedad are there once again but find themselves with a gap of nine points on the fourth-placed Barcelona.

On the other hand, a sensational Champions League group campaign over in Group D means the club are into the last 16 of that competition after finishing ahead of the Serie A league leaders, Inter Milan, on goals difference.

They managed to draw twice with Inter and also defeat Benfica and RB Salzburg.

Paris Saint-Germain are up next for the La Liga giants, and Sociedad also head into this one into the next round of the Copa del Rey too after defeating Osasuna 120 on the road in the round of 16 thanks to a penalty from Mikel Oyarzabal and a late goal from Mikel Merino.

The club also managed to defeat Malaga in the round of 32 two weeks ago, and they will now aim to get their first win in La Liga since early December where they defeated Villarreal 3-0 thanks to a goal each from Merino, Martin Zubimendi and Takefusa Kubo.

Sociedad would go on to draw 0-0 with Real Betis shortly after before doing the sam on the road to Cadiz.

The Basque Country side would also draw with 1-1 with Deportivo Alaves in the first game of 2024 that saw Zubimendi score in the 96th minute to earn a point for Sociedad. Alex Remiro was also sent off that day but can play here.

Last time out in La Liga, Sociedad were beaten by Athletic Club 2-1 where Oyarzabal scored late on in the second half of the game.

As for Celta Vigo, they continue to struggle, despite putting together a fantastic bit of form in 2024.

This saw the club head into the last eight of the Copa del Rey with a 3-1 win over Valencia where Luca de la Torre scored in the first half alongside a goal in either half from Anastasios Douvikas.

Rafael Benítez's men are now sitting 16th in La Liga and ahead of the bottom three by two points. Forebet now predicts a draw in this game and for the match to see under 2.5 goals.
