La Liga is nearing its end of the 2023/24 season, and Forebet is back once more for all the latest data, analysis, trends and mathematics for the game between Girona and Villarreal on Tuesday night.

It’s been a sensational season for Girona, as they are guaranteed to end the campaign with their best-ever finish in La Liga.

In fact, it is just their fourth campaign in Spain’s top flight, having spent most of their history in the lower tiers, and this rise up to second and the battle for the title is no doubt one of the most remarkable stories of the decade.

The race for the league title for Girona did quickly fade, however, with the club now behind the winners Real Madrid by 15 points after previously being within just three points as early as two months ago.

This comes after a run of losses that now puts Girona with six defeats and six draws on the board, although they have still won 23 matches in La Liga after another stunning win over Barcelona 10 days ago that saw them do the league double over the Spanish giants.

Artem Dovbyk scored after just four minutes that day when Girona went 1-0 down inside three minutes.

It was his 20th goal of the season, as the forward targets a stunning win of the Pichichi Trophy. Portu also scored twice in the second half, alongside a goal from Miguel Gutierrez.

This now puts Girona two points ahead of Barcelona, five points clear of Atletico Madrid in fourth, and also above Athletic Club in fourth by 13 points, meaning Champions League football was also officially secured when they beat Barcelona the other week.

Girona did draw with Deportivo Alaves last time out, but this also extended their unbeaten run to four games since their stunning loss to Getafe.

As for Villarreal, the club come into this game with 60 goals conceded after a narrow 3-2 win over Sevilla.

Alexander Sorloth was back amongst the goals, however, with a goal in the first half to equalise and a winner in the 97th minute. He is also now behind Dovbyk by just one goal in the race for the top scorer award, making this game all the more interesting.

Villarreal's hope for a return to Europe, on the other hand, is all but over, as they are adrift of Real Betis in sixth by eight points with only nine left to play for. Ultimately, they need a bunch of different results to go their way from now until the end of the season.

Forebet predicts a win for Girona and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
