Can Las Palmas halt Getafe’s hot streak?

Getafe will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak in La Liga to nine matches when they take on Las Palmas at Estadio Gran Canaria on Friday night.

Despite their impressive run, eighth-placed Getafe sit just one point clear of eleventh-placed Las Palmas, who have remained within touching distance throughout the campaign.

Having gained promotion from the second tier last season, the Canary Islanders will be eager to cement their place in the Spanish top flight for another year.

Las Palmas suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Betis last time out, despite racking up 61% possession and 15 shots against the European chasers.

Thanks to victories over Almeria and Atletico Madrid as well as a draw with Osasuna, last weekend’s loss ended a three-game unbeaten run for Las Palmas.

It is also worth noting that Las Palmas have won five of their previous nine La Liga matches, meaning only the top seven teams have picked up more victories this term.

Although Las Palmas are the division’s second-lowest scorers, they possess the third-best defensive record in Spain’s top tier.

Meanwhile, Getafe claimed a 2-1 victory over struggling Almeria last weekend, courtesy of comeback goals from Mason Greenwood and Borja Mayoral.

As a result, Getafe head into Friday’s clash on a nine-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, which includes eight La Liga matches.

It is worth noting, however, that Getafe have drawn six of their last eight league encounters, with four of those stalemates producing under 2.5 goals.

Having won just two of their previous 20 matches on the road, Getafe will be desperate to fix their away form sooner rather than later.

Head-to-head: Getafe have won each of their last two La Liga meetings with Las Palmas, keeping a couple of clean sheets for good measure.

To make matters worse for the Canary Islanders, they have managed to win just one of their previous seven games against Getafe.

Team news: The hosts look set to be without the injured trio of Alvaro Lemos, Fabio Gonzalez and Jonathan Viera for the foreseeable future.

Getafe also have three injury absentees at the moment, with Mauro Arambarri, Gorka Rivera and Enes Unal set to miss Friday’s showdown.

When you couple Las Palmas’ strong home record with Getafe’s impressive form, all the signs point towards a close-fought battle at Estadio Gran Canaria.

Accordingly, Forebet predicts that Las Palmas and Getafe will play out a low-scoring draw, with the visitors expected to register a seventh stalemate in nine outings.
