Two Struggling Bundesliga Sides Meet When Gladbach Heads to Koln
2873

Borussia Mönchengladbach are aiming to keep up their unbeaten form over the past few weeks after a tough start to life in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season with the club heading to the RheinEnergieSTADION this weekend to meet with a struggling Koln side.

Although Koln have been struggling this season and are looking like fighting relegation this campaign, the club are heading into this game off the back of beating Resurath 15-0 in a club friendly during the international break.

This cannot, however, move away from the fact the club are one of the three winless sides in the Bundesliga this season and are heading into this one with the fewest goals scored in the German top flight too.

Koln have not scored in their past two Bundesliga games and lost to Stuttgart 2-0 and Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 during this period.

Their last goal came in a 2-1 away loss to Werder Bremen where Davie Selke scored in the first half before a comeback win for Bremen.

Selke would also score in the 3-1 win loss at home to Hoffenheim just before this in a game that also saw the club have seven shots on target and 18 efforts in total - this is the most they have produced in a Bundesliga game this season.

Rasmus Cartensen was also sent off that day but is not suspended for this game.

The only point that has been picked up for Koln in 2023/24 so far has seen them earn a draw away to Eintracht Frankfurt, as Florian Kainz scored from the penalty spot in the first half before an equaliser from Frankfurt late on.

As for Gladbach, just like last season, it has once again been a struggle for them in 2023/24.

They are heading into this game down in 12th and with fans fearing another season where they fail to compete for the European spots in the Bundesliga.

They have, however, just defeated Bochum 3-1 with a brace from Alassane Plea in the first half, as Florian Neuhaus also netted in the first 45 minutes of the game too. In fact, all three goals came within 13 minutes of one another.

Gladbach also drew 2-2 with Mainz just before the international break and beat STVV 4-1 during the break in a club friendly.

They have now won just one game and lost three times but still managed to score 13 goals from seven matches.

Forebet predicts a win for Gladbach and over 2.5 goals.
