The Bundesliga has seen 744 goals scored ahead of matchday 28. The league averages 3.09 goals per game and is one of the highest scoring top-flights in Europe.

Those goals wouldn’t be possible without creative players capable of cutting up defences. The Bundesliga continues to see a range of creative players setting up goals. Here is a look at the Bundesliga’s assist leaders in 2021-22 prior to matchday 28.

5. Filip Kostic – Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic is having another sterling campaign. The 29-year-old has appeared in 24 Bundesliga matches, tallying eight assists. Kostic is currently on the radar of teams such as West Ham and Arsenal.

4. David Raum – Hoffenheim

David Raum is an unknown player to many casual Bundesliga observers, but that is mostly because he plays for unfashionable Hoffenheim. The German left-sided player has eight assists to go along with two goals. A product of Greuther Fuerth, Raum made his full Germany debut in 2021.

3. Christopher Nkunku – RB Leipzig

Christopher Nkunku will likely be RB Leipzig’s next big transfer sale. The former Paris Saint-Germain academy player has risen to star-status at RB Leipzig since joining in 2019.

Nkunku is having his best professional season in 2021-22. He is the heart of RB Leipzig’s attack tallying nine assists and 15 goals in the Bundesliga. Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to re-sign the former academy star.

2. Florian Wirtz – Bayer Leverkusen

Florian Wirtz’s development enabled Bayer Leverkusen to sell former player Kai Havertz to Chelsea in 2020. Now, Wirtz is destined to be Bayer Leverkusen’s next big sale after becoming one of the Bundesliga’s best in the final third.

Wirtz has 10 assists in 24 appearances for the Company XI. He has added seven goals to the Bayer Leverkusen cause as they fight for Champions League qualification for next season.

Unfortunately, Wirtz torn his ACL in March and will miss the remainder of the season. Hopefully, he will return with a bang next season.

1. Thomas Muller – Bayern Munich

Thomas Mueller is on pace to be the Bundesliga’s assist king for the third straight campaign. The Bayern Munich man has 16 assists to go along with seven goals.

Of course, it does make it slightly easier for Mueller to lead the league in assists when Robert Lewandowski is the league’s leading scorer.

No wonder Bayern Munich are on the way to winning another Bundesliga title. Mueller has 240 career assists in 618 appearances for Bayern Munich. He is the assist king!
