Frankfurt and Freiburg to both score on final day

Eintracht Frankfurt vs SC Freiburg - 22/05/2021

Frankfurt and Freiburg to both score on final day

5th placed Eintracht Frankfurt are probably still kicking themselves for losing out on what looked like a possible top four finish for the hosts.

However, the recent defeats away from home at Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 and a 4-3 loss at Schalke effectively put paid to any hopes of a Champions League spot.

Although Eintracht Frankfurt picked up a point in-between losses with a 1-1 draw with Mainz it proved to be too little too late for the Frankfurt outfit and they’ll have to make do with a 5th place finish and a place in next season’s Europa League competition instead.

Having managed just one win from their last five matches which came in the shape of a 2-0 home win over Augsburg, the prospects of a home win here aren’t quite as solid as they might have been a few weeks ago.

Although, goals should at least feature here as 14 of Eintracht Frankfurt’s 16 home games have resulted in both teams scoring.

Eintracht Frankfurt still remain unbeaten though at home this season and will be desperate to finish the campaign off with this record intact.

Freiburg sit mid-table in 10th place and this is probably a fair reflection of how their Bundesliga season has panned out as the visitors have won 12, drawn 9 and lost 12 of their 33 matches to date this term.

Mixed results throughout the season have prevented Freiburg from making a challenge on a top five finish but they’ve also helped the visitors steer clear of any relegation dramas in the season run-in, thanks to recent wins against Schalke 4-0 at home and a 4-1 rout of Koln on the road.

Freiburg will be looking at how to improve results away from home for next season though as the visitors have managed to pick up just two wins out of their last nine matches on their travels and one of the areas for improvement lies in the ability to keep clean sheets.

With just two clean sheets out of their total of 16 away matches to date this term, Freiburg have understandably struggled for results on the road.

They at least stand a chance of hitting the back of the net at Eintracht Frankfurt as their hosts have also managed to keep just two clean sheets from 16 home matches so far this season.
