Tottenham Hotspur will aim to secure their fourth win in five Premier League games when Aston Villa come to town on Wednesday.

Spurs sit sixth in the table – level with seventh-place West Ham United on 59 points – and will be hoping to hold onto a Europa League spot with just two games remaining this season.

Meanwhile, a three-match winless run – one draw and two defeats – has seen Aston Villa slip to eleventh place in the table.

Tottenham have only lost one of their last five league games, picking up three wins and one draw along the way.

Following victories over Southampton and Sheffield United, Spurs lost to Leeds, before beating Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s first goal against Wolves. The England striker now has 22 goals and 13 assists in 33 league appearances this term.

Having won all of their previous three home matches, it’s fair to say that Tottenham’s recent upturn in form is thanks largely to their performances on home soil.

In fact, Spurs have only lost five of their last 32 home games in all competitions and have scored in 13 consecutive Premier League outings.

Earlier in the campaign, it looked as though Aston Villa stood a decent chance of securing European football for next season.

However, Dean Smith’s men have dropped off the pace over the past couple of months – winning just one of their last seven games.

Looking at the bigger picture, Villa have only managed to win two of their previous 12 games in the Premier League.

It is also worth noting each of Villa’s last three away games have produced over 2.5 goals. However, they only took three points from a possible nine in that time.

Head-to-head: Unfortunately for Aston Villa, Tottenham have claimed six straight victories in this fixture.

Villa’s last win over Spurs came all the way back in 2015. Since then, Spurs have scored a combined total of 15 goals – averaging 2.5 goals per game – and have also kept three clean sheets.

Team news: Tottenham will be without left-back Ben Davies for the rest of the season, while right-back Serge Aurier is also a doubt for Wednesday’s clash.

On the other hand, Villa will be without Trezeguet, Matty Cash and Morgan Sanson for the trip to North London.

When you couple Tottenham’s current form with their recent record against Villa, all the signs point towards a home win on Wednesday.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Spurs will score over 2.5 on their way to claiming all three points against Villa.
