Atletico Madrid go into matchday 36 in desperate need of a win against Real Sociedad. Los Rojiblancos are in first place on 77 points.
However, they continue to collapse and are just two points ahead of both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Diego Simeone’s team are likely to be in third place when they kick off on Wednesday night. Barcelona play on Tuesday evening at Levante. A win would send them to the top of the table for at least 24 hours.
Wednesday night’s match is not an easy fixture. Real Sociedad are a strong side and are fighting to hold onto a Europa League qualification place. They have won three of their last four matches in La Liga.

Simeone will be without Thomas Lemar due to a hamstring injury. Lemar may not be available for the rest of the season.
Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil has six players on the injury list going into the match. Forward Fernandez Luna is a doubt due to a muscle injury. Urko Gonzalez and Jon Pacheco are both recovering from positive COVID-19 tests. The duo may not be fit to play.
Mikel Merino is a doubt and could miss the rest of the La Liga campaign. Aihen Munoz and Luca Sangalli could both return to the team for the fixture.
Atletico Madrid’s title destiny is in their own hands. Los Rojiblancos simply must win all three of their final three games. Draws will not help and will throw the advantage to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
Real Sociedad are the most difficult of the last three matches on the Atletico Madrid fixture list. After playing the Royals, Atletico Madrid will play 12th-place Osasuna and 17th-place Real Valladolid.
Thursday night’s game should be close and cagey with Atletico Madrid sneaking past Real Sociedad with a win. Expect it to be low scoring with under 2.5 goals scored. Los Rojiblancos should remain in first place.
